Upgrade vs QuickBooks Online

Upgrade vs QuickBooks Online Intuit to Sunset QuickBooks Desktop Version 2016 Every year on April 30th Intuit sunsets versions of their QuickBooks desktop software (PC & Mac) that are more than 3 years old. Sunsetting is when a company chooses to stop supporting older product or version of software. On April 30, 2019 when Intuit sunsets the 2016 version of QuickBooks Desktop (Pro, Premier and Enterprise) users of this product will no longer have access to technical support related to the product or data. This also means that is you are using any other QuickBooks or Intuit connected services such as Payroll, Credit Card Processing, Bill Pay, Online Banking, QuickBooks Email, Accountants Copy Transfer Service, etc. will no longer work. Why does Intuit sunset QuickBooks' versions after 3 years? At any given time, Intuit must provide tech support for three [...]

What Forms are Required for New Employees?

What Forms are Required for New Employees? Question: We are a small business and will begin hiring new employees this year. I want to make sure that we are compliant with all state and federal regulations. What are the required forms for new hires? Answer: As an employer, several forms are necessary (depending on your state) when hiring new employees, or when an existing employee requests a change to their payroll records. It is your responsibility to ensure that employees complete each of these forms, and to retain copies for your records in a secure location (since they contain personal data). These forms should be completed before the new hire’s start date. We suggest sending these forms to new employees as part of a welcome packet. This will give them an opportunity to complete the forms prior to the start [...]

This new process allows users with the correct permissions to pay a vendor without entering the bill first. The user must be an Administrator (verified to pay), or someone with a custom user role that includes permission to “Manage Bills and Vendor Credits” and “pay unassigned bills via Bill.com.” How it Works   First, select the + (plus sign) in the upper right hand of the Welcome Page in the app and choose “Pay a vendor.”  Bill.com will then create a bill associated [...]

Everyday Battles: Fighting Distractions

Everyday Battles: Fighting Distractions One of my New Year resolutions was to become more efficient productive in 2018. I feel like I haven’t made as much progress as I would have liked to (even though I‘ve made some) I believe my #1 issue is distraction, and I’m not alone. According to a study conducted by Gloria Marks of the University of California, Irvine, a typical office worker gets only 11 minutes between interruptions. It takes an average of 25 minutes to return to the original task following the interruption. And it’s not just phone calls of people stopping by the office that can throw you off track. Something as simple as checking email or texts messages can have the same effect. As a small business owner, having as much time as possible to be productive is essential. What Can I [...]
